Polish Home Restaurant Closed Till September

The restaurant and the bar at the Polish Cultural Center has closed for the summer. The summer break this year will last two months, through July and August. Both the restaurant and the bar should reopen as usual on the first Friday after Labor Day, that is on September 10, 2021. More: Polish Cultural Center website

The Polish government’s National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) is announcing this year’s courses of Polish language and culture for students and teachers from abroad. Lani Phillips Wins the 2021 Best Student of Polish Award

Lani Phillips, who has been learning Polish Language at the University of Washington Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures for the last two years, has received the prize for the Best Student of Polish there. Roy “Wojtek” Koczarski Has Died

Roy “Wojtek” Koczarski, a long time active member of the Polish community, and notably the architect taking care of the Polish Home, died on April 26, 2021 of natural causes with his family by his side. Fire Next Door to the Polish Home

Around 5:20 pm on April 7, 2021, there was a fire at the house adjacent to the Polish Home building from south, and unfortunately a life was lost. The elderly neighbor Michael Gross has perished and his body was found by the firefighters. He was 70 years old. The initial investigation indicates that the fire was accidental, most likely caused by a portable space heater. There was no damage to the Polish Cultural Center building,
